Milan | Fiera Milano Rho – These days the audience of the prestigious Italian motorcycling magazine ‘Motociclismo’ voted for the most popular motorcycle of EICMA 2017. Not surprisingly the eagerly awaited new 2018 Ducati Panigale V4 S won the award …

This beautiful and technically fascinating motorcycle will introduce the new Ducati’s four-cylinder era next season. The 75th edition of the EICMA – ‘Esposizione internazionale del ciclo e motociclo’ – was the perfect setting for the public presentation of this beauty. EICMA, which takes place every year in November in Milan, is arguably the most important motorcycle fair in the world. Pierfrancesco Calialri (Director General EICMA) and Frederico Aliverti (Director ‘Motociclismo‘) gave the award for the most beautiful motorcycle to Julien Clement (Senior Designer at Ducati Design Center and Panigale V4 Designer) on 12 November, the last day of the show (2nd picture from left to right). Clement took it behalf of Ducati Motor Holding.

The Ducati Panigale V4 is not only beautiful but it is also Ducati’s first four-cylinder motorcycle with its engine derived directly from the MotoGP Desmosedici engine. With its 1,103cc and 214hp, it is the pinnacle of Ducati technology, design and performance and replaces the iconic 1299 Panigale in the Supersport segment. The manufacturer based in Borgo Panigale in Bologna launches a new era with the V4. Ducati tops this with a charming limited edition of 1,500 units.  The Panigale V4 Speciale is a superbike that was further refined with a variety of precious features. It comes with a Racing Kit (not approved for the road) it reaches 226 hp. Any questions <gg>?

With all the hype surrounding the new V4, you should not forget the Superbike V2 tradition of Borgo Panigale. Ducati ensures this in a very impressive way with the 2018 new 959 Panigale Corse. With the matte racing livery it is also a beautiful Ducati, continuing the V2 tradition with dignity and speaks to me as a racetrack newbie. A V4 would exceed my present possibilities but I could imagine to ride the ‘little one’ on the track in the next season because my Ducati Monster can’t do it any more <gg>.

Let’s turn to the details of this evolved beauty. The Superquadro engine with 955cc provides 150hp and the Corse also fulfills all expectations with the Öhlins full equipment and the homologous Ducati Performance Titanium double silencer by Acrapovič. Last but not least we should not forget the EICMA girls, who gave the whole show the final shine. Thanks a lot for this!
