Spielberg | Media Center Red Bull Ring – Well, here I am, sitting at the Media Center of the Nero Giardini Motorcycle Grand Prix of Austria at the Red Bull Ring. It´s the second time the MotoGP takes place here. All the other colleagues from around the world have already left the Media Center. It´s only me who is still here with an Espresso and a Red Bull close at hand, to share with you some of the impressions of my first day here …

For me, as a rookie, everything is quite impressive. The Media Center, which is only a few years old, offers everything a journalist could wish for. Besides the friendly welcome, which awaits me (even before 17:00) at the accreditation center, there is also a breathtaking view over the Start-Finish Line, Paddock and the whole of the Red Bull Ring.

As soon as I arrived at the Red Bull Ring, I witnessed the first highlight already. At the end of the Pre-Event Press Conference, I was able to listen to the words of Pol Esparago (SPA-KTM) and could thereby gain some precious insights into the location of the press conferences. After my registration at the Media Center – in conformity with my number I got to choose seat 17 C – I was able to be in the midst of all the assembled world press people and listen to some interesting conversation. One steward, whom I met at the parking lot, lamented and told me that he had to stay outdoors all night whether it rains or storms. In this case I would provide little tents, since there are already some of them present at the Red Bull Ring.

Besides all the technical ingenuity, there are plenty of things for your physical wellbeing. There is this marvellous catering as well as beverages from Red Bull and mineral water, which are free for all journalists. The coffee too, in my case a double ristretto, is worthy of this level of event. Thomas from the catering as well as all the others from the „ Projekt Spielberg“ Team gave me many helpful tips, for which I want to give my heartfelt thanks.

The answer to my question, whether I can stay at the Media parking lot 2 – in which my TT is currently parking- with my motor caravan next year, is yet to come. This answer is eagerly awaited since it´s some time around midnight now and my walk to Murau and the inn I´m staying at is not a short one compared to the distance to the nearby parking lot. Tomorrow morning I have to get up early again in order to be on time for the Free Practice 1 of the MotoGP where a rush of visitors is expected.

Working here is really enjoyable and effective. You get various kinds of information on the event and the Wi-Fi is a blessing compared to my painful experiences on my last ARMIN ON BIKE adventure trips through Italy and France a week before. We´re being provided with an infrastructure on a very high quality level. Here are two pictures of my working space, just to give you a glimpse of what I mean. Now I´m on my way to the inn Lercher in Murau, where they have given up on the wait for me. But I´m going to get to my room thanks to a very kindly solution.

Tomorrow my report on the MotoGP as well as other events within the Motorcycle Grand Prix of Austria continues. This time with the Free Practice 1 and 2 and also the first qualifyings of the junior racing competitions. You can find the ongoing live coverage of the day on my Facebook channel „ Armin on Bike“. I wish you a peaceful night, see you tomorrow!
